Sermon preached at Good News Mission – Nov 10, 2024
I wanted to look at two different sets of Scriptures. Both deal with God judging Israel, but with vastly different outcomes.
The first Scripture is Numbers 11:1-2;
And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.
Now look at Ezekiel 14:12-20:
The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD. If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves. Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
Now, what’s the difference between those two Scriptures?
In the first passage, we can see that one man, in this case Moses, could pray and spare his people when God was ready to destroy them. But when it came to Ezekiel, even if men like Noah, Daniel and Job were in the land praying for it – these were holy men of God – even if they prayed, God would not spare the nation, not even their own children. He would spare them because they trusted in the Lord, but no one else that had sinned against him.
So, what’s the difference? Is it because of the man praying for them, or because of the sins of the people?
The time difference between these two, Moses and Ezekiel, is about 700 years. For 700 years the nation of Israel sinned against the Lord. Throughout the centuries, Israel had a few good judges, a few good priests, and even a few good kings, 7 to be precise. But for the most part, the leadership, along with the people, were all corrupt. For most of those 700 years, the people and the leaders rebelled against the Lord.
In Deuteronomy chapter 30, before Israel had entered into the land of Canaan after coming out of their 40 years of wilderness wandering, God let them know exactly what to expect. He spelled it out for them so they would not be blindsided or surprised. He told them what they must do to be blessed in the land, and the reasons why he would judge them if they sinned against him.
For 700 years God continually sent in prophets to warn them and to call them to repentance. He sent in watchmen to warn them of what was going to happen. He sent in righteous kings to let them know what would happen if they didn’t stop sinning.
In Amos 3:7, it says this, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” In other words, before he does anything, he wants to make sure that we know what he plans to do based on what we do. And he doesn’t just say it once but repeatedly.
Jeremiah 35:15 says, “I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.”
God will always verbally warn through prophets before he takes drastic measures. For example in Isaiah chapter three, God makes it abundantly clear that when a nation doesn’t heed the warnings He will then bring upon them a number of things. One of those is a bad economy. He will also put in terrible leaders of the people to oppress them and rob from them through higher taxation and labor. He will bring in famines and disease and floods and invading armies. And all of these things are for the purpose of getting their attention in the hope that they will repent and be made right with God.
I mention all those things because, for a long time now, I’ve had this burning question on my mind and I can’t help but think that others may have this one as well.
The question is: “Where are we as a nation? Is there still time for repentance? Can one man pray for America and spare her. Or are we at the point where even if the most righteous among us were praying for this land, would God say, ‘I will not spare it.’”
There is a ministry that my wife and I support called Hand of Help. The Hand of Help Ministry was founded by Dumitru Duduman in 1986 in a small apartment in Fullerton California.
Dumitru was a Romanian pastor who worked many years with Brother Andrew’s ministry smuggling bibles into Romania and Russia when they were under Nazi rule and then under Communist rule before he and his family were eventually exiled here to the United States around 1984.
Dumitru and his family, out of obedience to the Lord, eventually returned to their homeland and with the help of American supporters raised up a ministry in Romania to take care of the orphans in the country, to start churches and to help their fellow Christians.
Dumitru’s grandson, Mike Boldea, was only nine years old when his entire family was deported. Dumitru passed away several years ago and Mike now runs the ministry based out of Watertown, WI.
When they first came to America, Mike traveled all across America with his grandfather, Dumitru, for over 11 years serving as his translator. They shared their testimonies about the persecution they received in Romania under the communist government. They talked about the Bibles they smuggled into the country and also into Russia. They also shared the stories of how the Romania government tried to kill Dumitru on the electric chair, twice, but God spared him through all of that torture.
But the main message they had to all the churches they went to, was a message of repentance. Along with calling America to repentance, Dumitru and Mike were given visions and dreams of what is coming upon America.
One of the first things they were shown back in 1984 was that we would see a new Civil War in America. They were also given visions of a future war with China followed shortly thereafter by an invasion from Russia which would ultimately destroy America. Many of these things were shown to them over 40 years ago. And those things they saw, are now coming to pass.
For a while now, I’ve been asking the Lord, “is this it?” Have we reached the point spoken of in Ezekiel 14:20 which again says, “Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.”
Over the years I became friends with Mike and some of the members of his family. My wife and I went a couple of times to visit them in Watertown Wisconsin. Mike came to a couple churches that I was an elder at. We did a few podcasts together. I really wanted to get to know him as a person, because if what he and his grandfather were telling was the truth, then what they had to say would be very consequential.
As I was praying and thinking about this, one day I sent a text to Mike. I had asked him about these verses in Ezekiel. I wanted to know, from his vantage point, will we see repentance in this nation, or have we reached the point where America will not be spared.
He said in reply, “No repentance is forthcoming” He went on to answer my question on whether or not we’ve reached the point of no return, to which he answered in the affirmative. So what does this mean?
I believe we have reached the point as a nation like Israel had reached before they were destroyed by the Babylonian Empire. Not only did God send Mike and Dumitru through the United States for decades, but he sent many other pastors throughout this land calling us to repentance.
You see, like it says in 2 Peter 3:9; “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God doesn’t want to lose anyone. He blesses out of want, but judges out of necessity.
He gives us all time to repent. He gave Israel hundreds of years to do so, but they didn’t. Israel is God’s example to every other nation of his mercy and his grace.
America has been given many years to repent. But only a few have. Only a remnant has heard his call to repent and turn back to him. Unfortunately, we have continually sinned against a holy and righteous God. He did, as he always does, sent in prophets, watchmen, men of God to go throughout this land to warn us of what would happen if we did not repent. The result of their preaching is no different than the prophets of old. For the most part, their message fell on deaf ears.
I’m sure your next question might be, “Is this true? Is this the end of America?”
I am of the opinion that this is it. Even though we just had an election and many Christians believe that we are now turning the corner and everything will be better moving forward.
Even though things may look good on the surface, there is a great division in this country that will only grow wider in the weeks and months ahead. Jesus said in Matthew 12:25; “…Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:”
There are people all over social media that are openly calling for the death of those they oppose. They are speaking about an open insurrection against the incoming government. They want to take it to the streets and cause as much trouble as they can. And within our government, elected officials and long standing bureaucrats are calling for resistance against the incoming administration.
In September of 1984, over 40 years ago, exactly, Dumitru Duduman was told what would happen in this country. Let me read from his own vision. It says, “When the Americans will think that it is peace and safety – from the middle of the country, some of the people will start fighting against the government. The government will be busy with internal problems. Then from the ocean, from Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, (and a few other countries) they will bomb the nuclear warehouses. When they explode, America will burn!”
I believe we have passed over that proverbial Rubicon. We have reached the point of no return. It doesn’t matter if there were a thousand righteous men praying for our nation. But that’s my opinion based on what I know so far.
When it comes to this, I would greatly encourage you to seek the Lord on this matter and not take my word for it. I’m only sharing with you what is on my heart. It’s up to you to go before the Lord and find out if I’m telling you the truth, or if I’m crazy.
Another question that might come to mind is; “What do we do?”
The quick and easy answer is to Repent. Remove the sin in your life. Get your life right with the Lord Jesus Christ. Trust and believe in Him. And prepare your hearts and your minds for persecution and tribulation, if you choose to remain faithful to the Lord.
Again and again, Jesus and the apostles let us know that those who will live godly shall suffer persecution.
Jesus said in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:12, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
SO, prepare yourselves, prepare your family and friends. Read books like, Foxes Book of Martyrs or Extreme Devotion from the Voice of the Martyrs Ministry. See what our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout history have had to endure for the sake of the Cross.
There is no guarantee that you will make it to the rapture without a scratch on you. When you read the Book of Revelation, you’ll see that some will be cast into prison. Many will go into tribulation. For some, the antichrist will even overcome the saints.
But the wonderful news is that Christ is returning for those that love Him. We will suffer tribulation, but we will receive a crown of glory, if we endure until the end.
Therefore, turn from sin, and turn to Christ. Do not forsake him.
